Celebrating Lee Roy McHan - Memorial Bench

Tribute for Lee Roy McHan, written by Quinton Craig

This bench is dedicated to Lee Roy McHan, a cherished husband, father, and grandfather whose love and service touched many hearts. Born in El Dorado, Arkansas, and a resident of Haughton, Louisiana, Lee Roy was a talented athlete, a dedicated volunteer, and a beloved "Papaw" to his grandchildren. His life was marked by his commitment to serving others, from his days at Halliburton to his years of volunteering with the Bossier Parish Sheriff Posse, CASA, Camp Quality, and the Take a Youth Fishing program. Lee Roy lived his life inspired by the words of Matthew 20:28, embodying the spirit of service. As you rest on this bench, remember Lee Roy's love for life, family, and community. May his legacy of kindness and service continue to inspire all who visit here.

This collection of photos highlights Lee Roy's love for the outdoors and his lighthearted nature. You'll see examples of his favorite pastimes, such as fishing, sitting on the porch, bird watching, spending time with his grandchildren (including a baby possum), and teaching youth how to fish.

We all miss him greatly, and he has left a lasting impact on the lives of so many. His memory continues to inspire us.

I hope that all who may choose to rest on this bench take a moment to look around and soak up the beauty that surrounds us every day. Often, we take this world for granted, occupying ourselves with our busy lives. I implore everyone to take some time to reflect on the moment, appreciate nature, and cherish the simple joys that Lee Roy loved so much.
