This event is held outside starting at 6:00 p.m. and ending at 8:00 p.m. Take a short trail walk to learn about three different wild animals* and how they survive winter. Then stop at our campfire to make and eat your s'more (optional).
S'mores are free to Members of the Friends of Red River National Wildlife Refuge. If you aren't a member, you can sign up as a new member at this event or pay $5 per family for the s'mores. Event sponsored by Friends of the Refuge.
This event was inspired by the book, All Creation Waits by Gayle Boss.
Winter is the season of dwindling light and gathering cold – with a mystery at its core. Animals of the northern hemisphere enact that mystery. Watching them, we can find a way to face our primal fear of the dark and cold, a healthier way than falling into depression or spiraling into frenzied distraction.
All Creation Waits opens a window onto the world of an animal amazingly, ingeniously adapting when darkness and cold descend.
